Athletic Club KC first baseman Alvin Grant made his presence felt in the 3-2 U-24 triumph over the Walla Walla Walleye. Grant went 3-5 with 2 home runs. Athletic Club KC reliever Jerry Young picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Scott Jones took the loss. With the win, Athletic Club KC has a record of 31-23. Walla Walla falls to 30-24.
Grant had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 1-1 fastball from Scott Jones, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the U-24 a 3-2 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Grant.
"This game tested our mettle," said Grant.
