The Caldwell Chiefs relied on the hitting of shortstop Brad McGee to stop the Cut Off Crawdads, 9-4. For the game, McGee went 3-4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Chiefs, at 22-32, sit in last place in the Premier A.
Caldwell used a well-timed hit by Shawn Washington to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," McGee told the Caldwell Bulletin. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
