The Athletic Club KC U-24 went down to defeat to Chia-kang Liang and his South Beach teammates. The final score was 4-2 in favor of the Blaze. Liang, now 5-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Earning his 4th save of the year was Brent Aspden.
The Blaze got a big at-bat from left fielder Orlando Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 7th double of the season gave South Beach a 3-1 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Rodríguez. "And not try to do too much."
With the win, South Beach upped its record to 28-9.
