Dunse Fires No-Hitter Against Washington
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus were just hoping for a solid outing from Ronnie Dunse. Instead, they got something special.
The 21-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Washington Generals, helping the Hobeaus take the 9-0 win.
"I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Hobeaus. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Dunse's repertoire has a curveball, fastball, and splitter, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Washington hitters off balance all game long. The Smoky Mountain hurler fanned 8 and walked 4 in his history-making performance.
"His curveball looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Washington manager Nathan Horton joked after the game.
Currently Dunse has a record of 9-6 with 105 strikeouts and 42 walks in 117.1 innings and a 2.76 ERA.
