Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Chiefs
|
The Lake Erie Arryns got a superb performance from pitcher Gabe Turner, but the Caldwell Chiefs still won the game, 3-2. Turner threw 8.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The loss has the Arryns at 9-7.
The Chiefs were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when center fielder Dermott Colenutt turned a first pitch sinker from John Terry into a 2-run double. The walk-off double electrified the Pipers Ballpark denizens and sent the Chiefs home with a thrilling 3-2 win.
Colenutt said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
