Airmen Take Down Bulls, 4-3
|
The Alameda Airmen withstood an impressive performance by Belleville center fielder Juan Leyva to defeat the Bulls, 4-3, at Belleville Field. Leyva went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. With the win, Alameda raised its record to 25-18.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Arturo Llanet came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Belleville pitcher Nelson Holliday, he hit a 2-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Alameda on top, 4-3.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Belleville manager Jeff Rutherford said following the tough loss.
