Pontiac got a decent performance from pitcher Júlio Medina, but it wasn't enough to beat the Alameda Airmen. Alameda won the Pontiac Copperdome contest, 3-2. Medina threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Jeff McDonald, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Eric Morgan was called on to finish, recording his 11th save.
Alameda took a 3-2 lead on Juan Gutiérrez's 5th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Gutiérrez hit in the top of the seventh, left Pontiac pitcher Warren Cleveland shaking his head.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Gutiérrez. "Just do my job."
The win makes Alameda 21-12.
