Smoky Mountain starter Kun-young Paek pitched well against the Pontiac Godfathers at Smokies Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Alfons Neelen earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record is now 1-0. Jason Taylor was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Smoky Mountain took a 4-3 lead on Roque Verde's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Verde hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Pontiac pitcher Salvador Martínez shaking his head.
"We put together a nice win," Verde said.
The loss has the Godfathers at 4-4.
