Blake slugs 2 home runs to Power Herons Offense
|
Led by Adrian Blake, the Holy City Herons defeated the Laredo Hawks, 10-5. Blake belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Herons. Picking up the win was Jon Murphy. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The left--hander struck out 6 and walked 1. Chip Moore got credit for the save for Holy City. It was his 11th of the year.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Herons had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when designated hitter Carl Wilson hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Henry Peters and made the score 1-0, Herons. Wilson was 2-5 with a double.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Herons manager David Buchanan, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
The Herons now have a record of 45-36.
