Hermit Crabs Handled by Mancelona, 4-1
|
Mancelona pitcher Kanzaburo Ichikawa did his part in helping his team beat the Huntington Hermit Crabs, 4-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ichikawa, now 2-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Jaime Trujillo recorded his 3rd save for Mancelona.
Mancelona relied on the hitting of Broderick Petersen to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Torch on top, 3-0. For the game, Petersen had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Ichikawa said.
With the win, the Torch improved to 10-11.
