Screaming Eagles Earn 2-1 Win Versus Loons
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles did just enough to sneak past the Minnesota Loons, 2-1, at Loony Bin. Mercer Island pitcher Sixto Espinosa, in particular, had a standout performance. The Screaming Eagles sit in first place in the Premier AA with a record of 52-32.
Mercer Island needed the clutch hitting of Koen Weegerink to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 2-1. For the game, Weegerink had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Espinosa told the Mercer Island Herald.
