A 5-RBI performance from Su-shun Hung, who is tied for 9th in the PAA in RBI with 36, helped the Asheville Highlanders beat the St. Petersburg Thunder, 7-5. Vincente Hernández, now 1-6, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. The save went to Bob O'Slattery, number 5 for him.

Paul Young hit a 2-run triple off Larry Austin in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Highlanders in front, 7-5. Young had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 4.

St. Petersburg is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
