Late Magic Gets Asheville 5-3 Win
|
The Crescent City Krewe got a sterling performance from pitcher Brant Atkinson, but the Asheville Highlanders still prevailed, 5-3. Atkinson threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Rob Sawyer, now 3-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Bob O'Slattery finished the game for Asheville and earned his 4th save.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Su-shun Hung's at-bat in the top of the eighth was vitally important. With one out, the Asheville designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
Hung called the win "a team effort."
The Highlanders go to 22-36, putting them last in the Premier AA.
