Field of the Krewe hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
In a tight game between the Ithaca Fighting Imps and the Crescent City Krewe, pitcher Frederick Jennings was terrific on the mound. The Ithaca right-hander helped his team to the 2-0 win. Jennings, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 5, and allowing no runs. The save went to Emery Kehler, his 7th this season.
Ithaca used a clutch hit from Eppe Nuesink to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Fighting Imps ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The old adage is true," said Jennings. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Ithaca now sits in 9th place in the Premier AA at 13-23.
