Highlanders Need Extra Innings to Top Thunder, 5-4
The Asheville Highlanders had to overcome a fine effort from St. Petersburg pitcher Jorge Ortíz to grab a narrow 5-4 win at Asheville Park. Ortíz went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Asheville is now 12-20, St. Petersburg 13-19.

The Highlanders procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Pete Hill. In the bottom of the 12th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

Hill said afterward that he was "glad the fans were treated to a good ballgame."
