Screaming Eagles Topple Thunder, 8-4, as Mejía Shines
With left fielder Esteban Mejía leading the charge, the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the St. Petersburg Thunder, 8-4, at Baby Thunder Dome. Mejía, who is tied for 7th in the PAA in total bases with 45, was 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Octávio Ortíz picked up the save for Mercer Island, his 2nd of the year. Mercer Island is now 15-9, while St. Petersburg is 10-14.

In the top of the seventh, Mejía put his team in front with his 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which came against Alfonso Escamilla, made it 5-4, Mercer Island.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said St. Petersburg manager Emílio Sáenz.
