Silva Deals Mercer Island 1-0 Setback
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Asheville Highlanders and Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.
In a tight game between the Asheville Highlanders and the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, pitcher Tomás Silva was terrific on the mound. The Asheville right-hander helped his team to the 1-0 win. Rob Sawyer nailed down his 4th save.
Silva, a native of Caguas, Puerto Rico, was dealing all game. He kept Mercer Island hitters off-balance, while giving the Highlanders 7.1 quality innings. Silva threw 90 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 6.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Silva said. "That's why you play the game."
Asheville is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 5th in 15 games.
