Highlanders Hold Off Thunder, 1-0
|
Tomás Silva was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Asheville and St. Petersburg. The Highlanders right-hander helped his team beat the Thunder, 1-0. Silva got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 4 over 6.2 innings. Silva allowed no runs. Rob Sawyer nailed down his 3rd save.
Mitchell Hogg, the 22-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Hogg contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Asheville up, 1-0.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Asheville manager Pancho Campos. "Our pregame was pretty good."
St. Petersburg falls to 3-7.
