Pilgrims Beat Gulf Coast, 2-1
|
The Gulf Coast Turbeaus got a superb performance from pitcher Francisco Rodríguez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Providence. The Pilgrims won the game, 2-1. Rodríguez threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win belongs to Toshiki Matsushita in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Mario Noceda took the loss for Gulf Coast. At 38-53, the Pilgrims find themselves in 9th place in the Silver AA.
Alfredo García was the walk-off hero for Providence. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pilgrims shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said García.
