The Squirrel Hill Pierogis picked up a win at Field of the Rawhides, knocking off the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas, 4-2. On the mound for Squirrel Hill was right-hander Jonathan Lynch, who played a pivotal role in the win. Laionela Pualani got credit for the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. The Pierogis sport a record of 26-38.
Squirrel Hill took a 4-2 lead on Ricardo Álvarez's 21st double of the season. The 2-run double, which Álvarez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Chesapeake pitcher Frank Vetter shaking his head.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Álvarez, "and go after the next one."
