Beat Goes On for Miners, Win 3-1 Over Fat Cats
|
The Marquette Miners picked up a win at Marquette Stadium, courtesy of Mark Cunningham. The right-hander helped his team stop the Ottawa Fat Cats, 3-1. Cunningham went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 6-1. The Miners, now 29-18, have won 7 in a row.
In the bottom of the second, Don Meyer delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 3rd, the Marquette third baseman hit a 2-run home run, putting the Miners in front, 3-1.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Ottawa skipper Jorge Carranza, "and it cost us."
