Miners Get Past Squirrel Hill for 5-4 Win
|
In a tight contest at Marquette Stadium, the Marquette Miners edged the Squirrel Hill Pierogis by the score of 5-4. Marquette first baseman Doug Hall, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The winner was Moana Yani in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Laionela Pualani took the loss. Squirrel Hill is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
Hall had a timely hit for Marquette in the bottom of the eighth. With Squirrel Hill trailing 4-3, he turned a full count knuckle curve into a 2-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Marquette.
"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Hall.
