Thunder Hawks Suffer 4-1 Setback
|
Tacoma Fur Traders starter Lou Wright was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 4-1. Wright, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 3 walks. Bill Joseph earned the save for Tacoma, his 10th of the year.
The Fur Traders got an important contribution from center fielder Ray McConnell, who in the bottom of the first hit a splitter into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Fur Traders ahead, 2-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," McConnell told the Tacoma Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Fur Traders improve their record to 17-16 with the win over Ft. Polk South.
