Thunder Hawks Topple Pierogis, 7-1, as Mondragon Shines
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis and Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Ft. Polk South left fielder José Mondragon had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 7-1. Vicente Valentín got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 1 and walking 2.

Early in the game, first baseman Norberto Carrillo had a 2-run home run for Ft. Polk South. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Thunder Hawks on top, 2-0.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Carrillo told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."

The last-place Pierogis have dropped 5 straight games.
