Matlacha Defeats Yucca Valley, 4-1
|
Ballpark of Yucca Valley was the site of the home opener for the Yucca Valley Yellows. The contest featured a prime matchup between Diego Pounds of the visiting Matlacha Manatees and Jeremy Dean of the Yellows. The final score was 4-1, the Manatees getting the win. Jeremy Dean turned in the best performance. Zhong-yi Lo came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
Matlacha relied on the bat of Logan Rice to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Manatees ahead, 2-1. For the game, Rice had 1 double and 1 triple in 3 at-bats.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Rice said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
