The Tacoma Fur Traders overcame a fine performance by Squirrel Hill right fielder Jesús León to defeat the Pierogis, 9-4, at Field of the Rawhides. León slugged 2 home runs. Chiah-jen Fu earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. With the win, Tacoma improves its record to 3-2.

Tacoma used a well-timed hit by Eugene LeBlanc to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Fur Traders ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Gil Schmidt said.
