Field of Plenty hosted a real pitchers' duel.
Ottawa Fat Cats pitcher Gerald Jones was in fine form, leading his team past the Providence Pilgrims, 2-0. Jones went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. Hui Loh sewed up the save, his 1st.
Ottawa used the timely hitting of Alex Combs to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Fat Cats on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"The vibe's good," said Ottawa manager Jorge Carranza. "We've got to keep it going."
Ottawa, with the win, is 4-0.
