Both teams had their chances, but the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis eventually prevailed.
The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis picked up a win at Mariachi Band Shell, courtesy of Duke Silver. The right-hander helped his team stop the Westwood Sixshooters, 2-1. Silver, now 6-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run.
Ryan Perry had a clutch hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two men out and a runner on 3rd, the Nuevo Mexico left fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the Mariachis in the lead, 2-1.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Westwood manager Ricardo Vásquez. "The effort was great."
The Menard's AA-leading Mariachis have a record of 65-37.
