Westwood Sixshooters starter Juan De La Garza pitched his team past the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 5-2. The winner was Westwood reliever Pepe Aguilar, now 2-2. The loser was Mark Weston. Earning his 8th save for Westwood was Dave McCormick.
The outcome might have been different for Westwood, had it not been for George Hudson, the 27-year old center fielder . Hudson stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Westwood up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," De La Garza told the Westwood Herald.
The Sixshooters improve their record to 50-51 with the win over Nuevo Mexico.
