Sixshooters Go Down to Defeat, 6-3
Westwood got a terrific game from second baseman Ken Gibson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Virginia Beach, 6-3. Gibson was 3-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times. The winning pitcher was Daniel Goodwin. His record is now 4-8. The right-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 11 hits for the Whales. Éric Lemaire earned the save for Virginia Beach, his 24th of the year.

Virginia Beach relied on the bat of Andrew King to get the win. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Whales ahead, 6-3. For the game, King had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"Today was a lot of fun," said King.

At 48-51, the Whales find themselves in 6th place in the Menard's AA.
