|
Starting pitcher Lonnie Slaughter was a major factor in the 3-1 Virginia Beach Whales triumph over the Lancaster Farmers. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Damon Colcott. Virginia Beach has a 3-game win streak, while Lancaster has lost 5 in a row.
Virginia Beach used a well-timed hit by Andrew King to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Whales ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Slaughter said.
