Richland Dismisses Virginia Beach, 5-4
|
Despite a fine performance by center fielder Andrew King, the Virginia Beach Whales lost to the Richland Rails, 5-4. King belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Arthur Corrigan, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 9. His record now stands at 8-7. The 8th-place Whales have dropped 5 straight games.
Willie Davidson, the 28-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Davidson contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Richland up, 4-0.
