Starting pitcher José Lewis pitched well enough to help the Virginia Beach Whales beat the Lake Murray MotorBoaters, 4-3. The winner was Virginia Beach reliever Michael Wright, now 4-1. The loser was Xander van Dusschoten. The Whales, at 35-35, sit in 7th place in the Menard's AA.

In the bottom of the 15th inning, Jim McSweeney won the game for the Whales, walloping a solo home run. For the game, McSweeney went 1 for 6 with a home run and a walk.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Lake Murray manager Júlio González.
