Virginia Beach beat Richland at Rails Ballpark, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to catcher Dave Reid. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The save went to Éric Lemaire, his 14th this season. With the victory, the Whales upped their record to 31-28.

Reid had a big hit for Virginia Beach with two out in the top of the third. With Virginia Beach leading 1-0, Reid hit a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Whales up, 3-0.

"Good to pick up this win," Reid said.
