James Ellison pitched a gem to lead Richland to victory over the Virginia Beach Whales, 3-1. In 7.2 innings, Ellison surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Richland currently is in 4th place in the Menard's AA at 33-25.
The Rails got a big hit from right fielder Juan Miranda. In the bottom of the fifth, Miranda pounded a run-scoring triple to left-center. His 1st triple of the season put the Rails ahead, 2-1.
Miranda said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
