The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis picked up a win at The Ogre Den, taking down the Olympia Ogres, 4-3. Starting pitcher Albert Wallace was a big reason why. Wallace, now 5-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Carlos Romero closed the game out for Nuevo Mexico, earning his 12th save.
Nuevo Mexico used the timely hitting of António García to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mariachis on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Both teams played hard," said Nuevo Mexico manager Steve Bryan.
Nuevo Mexico is now 27-18, Olympia 27-18.
