Starting pitcher Elliot Wallace was a major factor in the 5-2 Gwinnett Guinea Pigs triumph over the Virginia Beach Whales. Larry Pulsifer finished to wrap up his 6th save. Gwinnett is 10th in the Menard's AA with a record of 15-23.

Gwinnett used the bat of Arturo Piña to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

In postgame remarks, Piña said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
