Ogres Beat Rails, 9-0
|
The Ogres grabbed a win, 9-0, at Rails Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Richland pitcher Kaimalie Heathershaw. Heathershaw went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. Jorge Ortíz earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. Olympia has 4 straight wins, Richland 3 straight losses.
Olympia right fielder Esteban Ortega contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a 2-run single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Ogres ahead, 3-0.
"I like our moxie," said Ogres manager Steve Ward.
