Avery, Guinea Pigs Get 4-1 Win
|
Gwinnett and Pine Island got after it at Experimental Stadium.
Gwinnett pitcher Brody Avery did his part in helping his team beat the Pine Island Dolphins, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Larry Pulsifer closed the door for Gwinnett, picking up his 4th save of the year.
Avery earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Gwinnett. The native of Avarua, Cook Islands, allowed just 2 hits, while striking out 9. Pine Island hitters did next to nothing against the right-hander.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Avery told the Gwinnett Observer.
Gwinnett has a 3-game win streak, while Pine Island has lost 3 in a row.
