González Hits 3 home runs in Battery Win
|
Good production from right fielder Edgar González helped the Charleston Battery topple the Nova Scotia Leviathan, 5-1. González hit 3 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring three times for the Battery. Rubén Sánchez picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 5-8. Today's win puts Charleston at 50-51, while Nova Scotia falls to 58-43.
González had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-2 slider from Roberto Chaumond, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Battery a 4-1 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for González.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Charleston manager Don Lookingbill. "It's usually not just one thing."
