Rainbow Mermaids Top Flamingos in Extras, 2-1

Northern Virginia and Las Vegas left the crowd in suspense until the final out.
Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids starter Pablo Moreno turned in a sterling performance against the Las Vegas Flamingos, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Francisco Pacheco, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
Northern Virginia used the clutch hitting of Israel Cruz to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Cruz said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."
The Rainbow Mermaids, at 61-38, lead by one game in their division.
