Flamingos Beat Echo Park, 7-6
|
The Las Vegas Flamingos defeated the Echo Park Lakers, 7-6, in Menard's Third League action at LA Forum. Mike Gilmore pulled his weight. The 7-year veteran was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Edgar Pérez, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits. The save went to Jon Phillips, his 10th this season.
Las Vegas used the clutch hitting of Pedro Basconcillos to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Flamingos the lead, 7-6. For the game, Basconcillos had 1 single and 2 doubles in 4 at-bats.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Echo Park manager Jordan Calhoun. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
The Lakers, at 39-34, have lost 4 straight games.
