Dirty Reds Come Back Late, Nip Lakers
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Dayton Dirty Reds eventually prevailed.
Victor Jones was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Dayton and Echo Park. The Dirty Reds right-hander helped his team beat the Lakers, 1-0. Alonso Salazar notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. Peter O'Farrell finished the game for Dayton and earned his 13th save.
Had Pete Black not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Black hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Dirty Reds.
"Runs were at a premium," said Dayton manager David Dodds.
With the victory, the Dirty Reds record now stands at 30-40.
