Dirty Reds Stumble, Lose to Leviathan
|
The Nova Scotia Leviathan picked up a win at Lang Park, knocking off the Dayton Dirty Reds, 9-3. Starting pitcher Alfredo Maldonado played a key role in the triumph. Jorge Valdéz collected save number 5. At 41-24, the Leviathan claim second place in the Third League.
Nova Scotia used the timely hitting of Gareth Kvernoey to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Leviathan on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We came out aggressive," said Leviathan manager Tyler Studebaker. "We came out swinging the bats."
