Starting pitcher Arthur Ward was a major factor in the 3-2 Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC triumph over the Las Vegas Flamingos. With the win, the Northern Lions BC improved to 19-27.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Jacob Grimsey came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Las Vegas pitcher Jon Phillips, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Thunder Bay on top, 3-2.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Las Vegas skipper Tom Williams.
