The Port Huron Blitzkrieg defeated the Pawnee ParksNRec, 4-3, in USSL Triple A action at Whips Ballpark. Port Huron pitcher Gustavo Rivera had a standout performance. Rivera, the winner, moves to 6-12. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 5 walks. Gil Childers earned save number 16 this season.
It could have been a different outcome for Port Huron, had it not been for Zachary Spilsbury, the 28-year old catcher . Spilsbury contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Port Huron up, 3-2.
"We put together a nice win," Rivera said.
Port Huron is 9th in the Silver AAA with a record of 40-59.
