The Hamilton Thunderbirds beat the Pawnee ParksNRec, 3-1, at Whips Ballpark. Starting pitcher Darwin Donovan was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Donovan picked up the win for Hamilton, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-2. Gary Dillon picked up the save for Hamilton, his 6th of the year.
In the top of the first, Ray Sloan ambushed a 2-2 slider from Les King and hit a solo home run. It gave Hamilton a quick 1-0 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Hamilton manager Roy Clay.
