Humpbacks Suffer 4-2 Setback
|
The Monongahela Monsters topped the Alaskan Humpbacks, 4-2, in USSL Triple A action at Sea World. The game was highlighted by the performance of Monongahela pitcher Oliver Haddow. Monongahela reliever Mané Garrincha picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Cristo Coronado took the loss. David Cuevas recorded the save for Monongahela, his 1st of the season.
Monongahela used a clutch hit from Jesús Cortéz to snatch the win. The right fielder belted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Monsters ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"I feel honored to be a part of this team," said Cortéz.
The Monsters saw their win-loss record go to 36-32. At the same time, the Humpbacks fell to 40-28.
