In a low-scoring tilt between the Monongahela Monsters and the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, Jim Givens was the difference-maker. The Monongahela right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Givens, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The win puts Monongahela at 34-30 this season.

The Monsters got an important contribution from left fielder Bob Johnson, who in the bottom of the third knocked a 2-2 forkball into left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Monsters ahead, 3-0.

Givens told a Monongahela Herald reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
