The Hamilton Thunderbirds overcame a fine performance by Port Huron left fielder Mauro Quijano to defeat the Blitzkrieg, 5-3, at Port Huron Park. Quijano belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Sixto Reyes picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-3. He struck out 4 in 7.2 innings. Steve MacDougal closed the game out for Hamilton, earning his 6th save.

John Tolbert was 1 for 4 with a double for Hamilton. The 30-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mike Thornton. It was his 8th RBI of the season.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Hamilton manager Roy Clay. "It's usually not just one thing."

With the win, Hamilton has a record of 19-22. Port Huron falls to 11-30.
